Can it be used in projects that comply with functional safety standards?
The functional safety standard (ISO 26262) determines compliance based on the tool reliability level (TCL). Since Next Design is considered to fall under TCL1, we believe that Next Design can be used without tool certification by conducting sufficient verification activities (reviews, static verification, various test processes, etc.) on the final deliverable of the target product (e.g., program) to detect errors.
The tool reliability level is determined as follows:
| Indicator | Assignment | Rationale |
|---|---|---|
| Tool Impact (TI) | TI2 | Because it handles design information, there is an impact from tool malfunction |
| Tool Error Detection (TD) | TD1 | By conducting sufficient verification activities on the target product, errors due to tool malfunction can be detected at a high level |
If TI2 and TD1 are met, the tool reliability level is determined to be TCL1.
