Profile

What is Profile

A profile is a structure and representational definition that consists of two things:

  • Metamodel ・・・ Items to be designed and their structure definition
  • View definition ・・・ Expression format definition of model created based on meta model

Profiles correspond to document templates and diagram notations that define the chapter structure in conventional design documents. Profiles can be defined for each standard design method, or uniquely defined based on the characteristics of the target product and your company's design know-how.

Relationship between projects and profiles

Next Design projects are modeled based on profiles. By modeling based on the profile, you can design according to the items to be designed and their structure, and the notation can be unified, so you can prevent omissions of design items, structural errors, and notation discrepancies.

In addition, by standardizing profiles for each design target, team, and organization, and sharing those profiles in multiple projects, it leads to stable design quality and essential quality improvement.

profile use cases

The general procedure for profile operation is as follows.

  1. Standards champions create projects with defined profiles
  2. Standards champion exports the defined profile from the project and publishes it
  3. Designer creates new project with published profile
  4. The designer models the design object according to the profile

When standards champions update their profiles, they can deploy the updated profiles and designers can re-import the updated profiles to reflect the profile updates in their projects.
