Japanese cannot be entered correctly when editing rich text with Microsoft IME.

Description

If you are using Microsoft IME with some versions of Windows 10, Japanese may not be entered correctly when editing rich text.

Phenomenon

If you are using the following versions of Windows and Microsoft IME, it has been confirmed that characters are entered twice while entering Japanese into rich text.

  • Windows 10 Version 2004 (May 2020 Update) and later versions

Cause

This is thought to be a compatibility issue with the new Microsoft IME. This issue can be avoided by using the compatibility mode of Microsoft IME. For details, see the workaround below.

Turn on [Use previous Microsoft IME] using the procedure posted on the following external page.
