Document Generation Overview

Next Design allows you to generate documents viewable in other tools from models designed in Next Design. This enables you to share design content with stakeholders who do not use Next Design.

The following document formats can be generated:

  • Word format
  • PDF format
  • HTML format
  • Image (PNG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, XPS) format

This section explains the basic operations of document generation, and the next page explains document generation in Word and HTML formats.

Basics of Document Generation

Next Design's document generation function can generate documents not only from documents and tables displayed in forms, but also from diagrams displayed in diagrams.

You can generate documents for all models included in a project, or generate documents for only the necessary parts.

Regardless of the document format you want to generate, the basic operation is as follows:

Document Generation

Operation Procedure
  1. Select the model you want to generate as a document in the Model Navigator. If you want to generate from all models in the project, select the project at the top of the Model Navigator.
  2. Click [File] on the ribbon, click [Export] from the side menu, and select [Generate Document].
  3. Select the output document format and [Target Area], then click the [Generate] button.
  4. Specify the location and file name of the output file in the dialog box, and click the [Save] button to start document generation.
  5. Once the document output is complete, the file will open.
Other Operation Procedures
  • You can also output documents using the [Export] command from the context menu of the Model Navigator.
In that case, the output will cover the entire model from the selected model to the end.
