Checking and Editing Traceability in Matrix Format
Overview
The Trace View has two display formats: tree format and matrix format. You can switch between them at any time depending on your needs.
The matrix format Trace View allows you to check traceability by arranging two models vertically and horizontally, while also adding or deleting missing trace information.
The following explains how to check traceability in matrix format in the following order:
- Switching between tree format and matrix format
- Switching the model being checked
- Directly editing trace information in matrix format
Switching between tree format and matrix format
To switch between tree format and matrix format in the Trace View, follow these steps:

- Click [Traceability] > [View] > [Trace] on the ribbon to display the Trace View.
- With the Trace View displayed in tree format, create two or more lanes arranged horizontally.
- In the tree format, display the models you want to display on the vertical and horizontal axes of the matrix format in the first and second lanes.
- Click [Traceability] > [View] > [Matrix] on the ribbon to switch the Trace View to matrix format, and icons indicating the direction of derivation relationships between models will be displayed.
- Click [Traceability] > [View] > [Tree] on the ribbon to return to the tree format.
- In tree format, models displayed in lanes from the third onwards will be ignored.
Switching the model to be checked
To switch the models displayed vertically and horizontally in the matrix format, follow the steps below.

- Select from a previously saved [Trace Set] to switch the model to be displayed.
- If the model you want to view is not saved as a view, follow the steps below to save the model order and then switch the view.

You can display only the information you are interested in by specifying the models to be displayed vertically and horizontally in the matrix format and the relationships to display in the cells.

Instructions
- From the menu button on the right of the toolbar, perform the following operations depending on the model you want to specify.
- To specify the model to be checked: Click [Filter rows] or [Filter columns].
- To specify the relationships to be checked: Click [Filter relations].
- The corresponding dialog box will appear. Follow the steps below to navigate the dialog and specify the model and relationships to display.

Directly Editing Trace Information in Matrix Format
To directly edit trace information in matrix format, follow the steps below.

- In matrix format, double-click a white cell at the intersection of a vertical or horizontal line to add a derived relationship between models and display an icon. (Gray cells cannot be edited because the derived relationship between models is not defined in the metamodel.)
- Double-click an icon representing a derived relationship between models to delete that derived relationship.
