Importing a profile

Overview

Next Design allows you to copy a published profile to your project. This is called importing a profile. When you import a profile, you can freely edit it in your project. Also, if you change a profile you have already imported and import it again, the profile in your project will be updated with the changes.

Importing a profile

To import a published profile into your project, follow these steps:

Replace with an image that has a tailoring group on the ribbon

How to do this
  1. Do one of the following:
  • Click [Profile] > [Share] > [Import Profile] from the ribbon.
  • Select [File] > [Import] > [Profile Import] from the ribbon and click the [Import] button.
  1. In the [Profile Import] dialog, specify the profile (.nprof or .iprof file) to import.
  2. Click the [Open] button to reflect the metamodel and view definitions contained in the profile to the project.
info
  • The file save format of the import destination project and the profile to be imported must be the same.
  • If you are working with Subversion, you must have permission to edit all files.
  • If the profile to be imported uses a modularized profile in reference format, an error dialog will be displayed.
For details, see Reference > Errors and how to handle them when changing profiles.

Re-import a profile

If a profile that has been imported once is revised, re-importing it will update the profile with the revisions.

How to update the changes made after import and the revisions of the profile
  • When importing, the profile is updated to be the logical sum of the contents before and after import. If you change/delete the profile after importing and then import it again, it will return to the state before the change/deletion. If you add a profile, it will be maintained.
For details, see Reference > Profile import behavior.
